Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte studied at Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica Silvio d’Amico (the Italian National Drama School) with Luca Ronconi and at New York University with Edward Albee. They were awarded for the following prizes: Biennale Venezia, Hystrio, Vallecorsi, Fondi-La Pastora, Studio 12, Oddone Cappellino for playwriting and the Gibellina/Salvo Randone Prize for theatre.

 

ricci/forte are an Italian ensemble performing in Rouen (Scène Nazionale Petit-Quevilly/Mont-Saint-Aignan), Marseille (Festival Act0ral), Nantes (Le Lieu Unique), and Paris (Theatre MC93 and New Theatre of Montreuil). They take part in several internationl Festivals in Belgium (Les Halles, Brussels), France (La Ménagerie de Verre and Artdanthé, Paris; Europe&Cies, Lion), Croatia (ZKM, Zagreb; IKS, Split), Slovenia (Mladi Levi, Ljubljana), Romania (Underground Theatre, Arad), UK (Lingering Whispers, London), Germany (New Plays from Europe, Wiesbaden; and Glow, Berlin), USA (NYI, New York), Moldavia (BITEI, Chisinau), Bosnia-Herzegovina (MESS, Sarajevo), Spain (Theatre Valle-Inclàn and Escena Contemporanea, Madrid; Centro Parraga, Murcia), Turkey (New Text New Theater, Istanbul), Portugal (Almada, Lisbon), Russia (Territory, PLATFORMA and NET, Moscow), Brazil (FILO, Londrina), Mexico (FIC, Guanajuato; FIAC, León), Argentina (Festival Internacional de Teatro Mercosur, Córdoba), Uruguay (FIDAE, Montevideo).

 

In 2006 they perform TROIA’S DISCOUNT.

 

In 2007 they are invited at Embassy of France for “Face à Face” with Olivier Py. At Festival Internazionale Castel dei Mondi they perform METAMORPHOTEL and the first part of the project WUNDERKAMMER SOAP.

 

In 2008 they perform for the first time 100% FURIOSO.
PLOUTOS (by Aristophanes), directed by Massimo Popolizio and produced by Teatro di Roma, wins the Critics Award as Best Play at Biennale Venezia Teatro 2009.

 

MACADAMIA NUT BRITTLE is performed for the first time at Garofano Verde.

 

‘ABBASTARDUNA, directed by David Bobée, is performed at Théatre des Bernardines, Marseilles.   


In co-production with CSS of Udine, they present PINTER’S ANATOMY.

 

In 2010 Fondazione Alda Fendi hosts the performance SOME DISORDERED CHRISTMAS INTERIOR GEOMETRIES.

 

In 2011 they perform GRIMMLESS with the support of Teatro Pubblico Pugliese.

 

At Espace Malraux Scène Nationale in Chambery and at Théatre Les Ateliers in Lion, the French edition of MACADAMIA NUT BRITTLE was performed, directed by Simon Delétang.  In the same year, the full edition of the project WUNDERKAMMER SOAP was presented in co-production with Romaeuropa Festival.


In October 2012 IMITATIONOFDEATH is performed for the first time at Romaeuropa Festival, co-producer together with Festival delle Colline Torinesi and CSS Teatro stabile di innovazione del FVG, and was running for 4 weeks at Theatre MC93 of Bobigny, Paris.

 

STILL LIFE (2013) is performed at Teatro Argentina in Rome, June 2013.

 

A new edition of 100% FURIOSO, co-produced with the Russian Gogol Center Theatre and Platforma, is at NET Festival in Moscow, October 2013,


DARLING (hypotheses for an Oresteia) is performed for the first time at Romaeuropa Festival, October 2014.


In 2014 ricci/forte direct as Maîtres the 23rd edition of École des Maîtres (international theatre workshop for professional actors running in France, Belgium, Portugal, Croatia and Italy) presenting JG MATRICULE 192102, a tribute to Jean Genet.


In September 2015 they write and direct A CHRISTMAS EVE, an opera about violence in families, running for the first time in Spoleto. 

 

In December 2015, in co-production with CSS Teatro stabile di Innovazione del Friuli Venezia Giulia, they present the new site-specific project THE RAMIFICATION OF LOUSE, a tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini.

 

In January 2016, thanks to the support of CSS di Udine and Festival delle Colline Torinesi, they create the performance PPP LAST INVENTORY BEFORE CLEARANCE SALE,  a new project about the poetic universe by Pier Paolo Pasolini.

 

In February 2017 they present in Paris at Festival Artdanthé the project SPRING’S AWAKENING (by Frank Wedekind), in collaboration with ESAD (École Supérieure d’Art Dramatique).

 

In July 2017, at the “International Festival dei Due Mondi” of Spoleto and in co-production with Teatro Biondo of Palermo, they face the Shakespearian world re-writing TROILUSvsCRESSIDA.       

 

In summer 2017 they direct TURANDOT by Giacomo Puccini, opening the season of the Sferisterio-Macerata Opera Festival.

 

In October 2017 STILL LIFE (2013) is on tour in South America (Uruguay, Argentina) and at the Cervantes International Festival in Guanajuato, Mexico.
STILL LIFE (2013) wins the “Premio Provincial de Teatro” as best foreign show presented at the Theatre Mercosur Festival in Cordoba (Argentina).


In November 2017 they present their latest creation, EASY TO REMEMBER, inspired by the Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva.

ricci/forte receive the Music Critics Award “Franco Abbiati” 2018, as best directors, for TURANDOT.

 

In November 2018, they are going to direct LE CHÂTEAU DE BARBE-BLEU by Béla Bartók and DIE GLÜCKLICHE HAND by Arnold Schöenberg at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
